We could all use a little trap music in our lives. Whether it’s because we can’t find the motivation to get out of the bed, that new client is a pain, you need something to dance along to with friends, or for some of us it’s one of the few things that we can relate to. Whatever the case may be, trap music can be the perfect soundtrack to brighten up a dull mood.

That brings me to The Insomniac Music Group, TIMG, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio. The collective consists of designers, promoters, videographers, and artists alike. TIMG is steadily becoming a rising powerhouse as they build up a catalog of trap music that the underground is beginning to know and love more each day, especially in the Atlanta and Texas rap scenes.

You have probably heard of LAMB$, TIMG front man, from his 2014 smash hit Digi Scale Remix presented by DJ Osh Kosh featuring Key!, Reese, and Tezo. Or maybe you’ve seen their in-house director SO and one of his latest videos, Gold House, for Atlanta rapper Reese. Regardless if that rung a bell or not, one thing is for sure, you’re going to want to pay attention to what they are cooking up next.

TIMG has had an explosive start in the New Year, already releasing a few stellar videos and new songs. Two of which were just shared this week via Twitter. Midwest Millz drops off a hot new freestyle and with Killa Cam’s birthday being this week, what better way to pay homage than to release the LAMB$ and Millz KILLA KILLA video directed by none other than So.

Growing up in Ohio, it can be easy to let your talents fall by the wayside, no longer putting them to use everyday. You need a strong work ethic to simply maintain, but maintaining clearly wasn’t enough for these young, street hustlers. Being able to transfer their mindset as hustlers into the music industry is what sets them a part from your average, talented Midwest artists. One minute TIMG was pushing their music on the Internet and then the next minute they’re pushing it through their tour dates alongside large amounts of content. The Insomniac Music Group refuses to be outworked, like true hustlers. It’s clear from the looks of the past month that 2015 will be no different.

When this song comes on at a party, everyone goes wild

TIMG has a lot in the works for the first quarter or the year. Millz released a crazy track with Chynna titled I Need and he’s recording a video for it while he’s on tour in Miami. A video for their track Fiji Water is also in the works. But what we’re most excited for is the release of LAMB$ and Millz joint EP TRAPPED IN THE TRAP and LAMB$ FUKK KARMA 2 EP.

LAMB$ and Millz are currently booked for shows in Toledo, Miami, SXSW,  and Athens Numbers Fest. There are a few more locations in the works as well, so make sure that you come out to see them. These guys put on one hell of a show, watch the recap video of their AnimalxHouse Holiday Tour below.

Q & A With Millz and LAMB$

Vanice Alexander: How was TIMG started?

LAMB$: Me and Millz really went to overdrive in 2011, that’s around the time we started to realize this was all we had and made the best out of it.

VA: Why are you always smiling Millz? That was big on social media after CourtesyOf.

Midwest Millz: I smile a lot because the world we live in is already fucked up. Me and mine gone do what we have to do in order to advance our lives to a level we can’t imagine, that makes me happy. I’ve been through worse shit than having hit singles out with one of my best friends, that makes me smile.

VA: What do you look forward to about accompanying LAMB$ on his tour dates?

MM: Honestly if the fans want that MIDWEST MILLZ shit then we gone give it to them, but these lamb$ shows. I’m here ’cause I always been here you feel me.

VA: How does it feel to receive the amazing amount of love that you all do?

MM: The love we get is the reason we go as hard as we do! We do this shit for the people who want to see us doing it, showing everybody what it’s like to be a city kid growing up doing Lownt shit to chase your dream. We don’t have anybody funding us, we don’t have jobs, we really out here. We love what’s happening, what we are transforming into with no help. It lets us know that when we get to the big league shit is going to be amazing.

L: It’s truly a blessing, I knew this day would come but I still tell myself I ain’t shit, I don’t let it get to me at all.

VA: What does having a smash hit, like Digi Scale, mean to you?

L: It means a lot honestly, people go crazy when that record drops. I knew it’d come one day but i honestly didn’t expect it to be this song.
