The Dining Duo is an amazingly tasty Instagram page that is run by Mattey Spicer and Tea Corvi, a young couple from Columbus. Mattey is a part of a collective called Here to Disrupt, a one-of-a-kind culinary experience that aims to give second and third-tier chefs the chance to be able to showcase their personal talents. Tea is currently a server at The Guild House, a high-end restaurant right next to The Joseph Hotel in Columbus.
These two are quite possibly the biggest foodies you’ll ever meet. They really are all about finding the best food and documenting every great dish they come across for their followers. They currently live in Columbus, so their posts mostly cater to people in their own city. However, Mattey and Tea frequently take “food trips” where they will travel around the country and find the best restaurants. Here are some of The Dining Duo’s favorite spots accompanied by their own personal reasons as to why they love these places so much.
15 East Winter Street, Delaware, Ohio
Veritas Tavern is doing things that no one else in the state is doing. Their extreme passion and attention to detail shines through not only in their food, but in their cocktail list as well. The menu is ever-changing and they aren’t afraid to step out of “the box”. We need more of that! There are only a handful of tables in the place (which makes it even more special), so make a reservation. Try the daily coursed tasting menu to get a 360 view of the talent and passion of the Veritas team. Don’t be afraid to ask questions either! The service staff is extremely knowledgeable and the passion shines through from the kitchen to the dining room.
21 East 5th Ave #101, Columbus, Ohio
The Table prides themselves on locally-sourced ingredients and seasonal menus that are sure to wow you. Our advice is to join them for brunch. The service staff is extremely laid back and friendly, and the ingredients are always extremely fresh.
114 East 6th Street, Cincinnati, Ohio
Boca is one of three restaurants by David Falk & Boca Restaurant Group on the same corner (Boca, Sotto, Nada). On the menu you will find high-end steaks, seafood and pasta in an immaculately stylish space. The space is so beautiful — multiple stories tall, elaborately decorated, with food and service to match. Definitely a place to dine and celebrate something special.
2891 East Main St, Columbus, Ohio
The Top is special simply because of tradition. Recently celebrating 60 years in business, this 1950’s supper club style steak house boasts that the only thing that has changed since opening their doors in 1955 is the prices. They feature nightly live music and have a house pianist that has been occupying the space since 1965. This is the place to go for a classic steak dinner and classic cocktails, all nestled in a dimly lit Mad Men-esque ambience.
1342 Vine St., Cincinnati, Ohio
The Eagle is situated in the heart of OTR, the boutique mecca of Cincinnati. Offering up comfort food classics, their fried chicken is prepared to perfection and the spicy honey is the perfect addition. They also serve an impressive range of beers, a lot of them being local.
Make sure to give @thediningduo a follow on Instagram, your taste buds will thank you.
